GREAT GTA FALL HIKES IN 2019

For many, there is no better season to be outdoors than the fall. All those pesky insects have finally gone to sleep for another season, but the warm afternoon sun and a crisp breeze are still there to provide some real quality time with mother nature. When you live in a Conservatory Group community anywhere in the GTA, you can rest assured that a wonderful natural area is close at and that will let you get the most out of this magical season. Let's explore some of our top recommendations.

RICHMOND HILL

If you are considering calling our Observatory Hill or Richmond Green communities home, you will love having Sheppard's Bush Conservation Area nearby. This beautiful natural area is over 65 acres in size, and includes three kilometres of hiking trails, soccer fields, picnic areas and several historic buildings including a maple syrup evaporator hut and the Sheppard family house. Visitors will enjoy exploring the mature pine plantations, an old sugar bush and a majestic ravine along the East Holland River.

There are not many places like Rattlesnake Point anywhere in the GTA. If you call our Jasper Village community home, you are in luck, because this unique gem is just minutes away! Stand on top of Buffalo Crag Lookout Point to get one of the best views on the Niagara Escarpment. The truly ambitious can hike the Nassagaweya Canyon Trail to travel between Rattlesnake Point and nearby Crawford Lake, but be aware that this is a 4-5 hour round trip. Wherever your explorations take you, keep an eye out for the ancient cedars along the cliffs of the escarpment, some of these beautiful trees are over 800 years old. For the adventurous, rock climbing is also available here.

STOUFFVILLE

A popular destination near our Heritage Collection community in Stouffville is Bruce's Mill Conservation Area. This sprawling 267 acre space is home to a diverse ecosystem including wetlands and forest space. In addition to great hiking, visitors here can also try the Treetop Trekking Aerial Course, play on the soccer and baseball fields, challenge themselves on the golf driving range, or try the exiting BMX track.

BRAMPTON

Residents of our Trinity Village community in Brampton will appreciate their incredible proximity to Heart Lake Conservation Park. This community features woodland trails that guide you up hills, through flowered meadows and past a still kettle lake nestled deep within the forest's heart. There is also a fitness trail that is perfect for jogging, and includes many outdoor strength training stations along its route. Heart Lake also includes a Treetop Trekking course for the truly adventurous.
