Winter is finally upon us, and you may be considering hitting the slopes with your family while the snow is still on the ground. Many people think you need to drive for hours to find good skiing at destinations such as Blue Mountain or even Quebec. But the truth is that there are a number of great family-friendly skiing options to be enjoyed much closer to home. While the GTA's slopes may not be as challenging as Whistler or Mont Tremblant, they're plenty of fun for families looking to get out and enjoy a beautiful winter day. Here are a few of our top picks.

Located just a 10-minute drive from The Conservatory Group's Jasper Village community, Glen Eden offers 15 challenging runs, 7 chair lifts and 1 terrain park. Warm up after your run with some hot chocolate and a snack in the chalet at the bottom of the hill!

Chinguacousy Park is a great choice if you have young kids just learning to ski and snowboard. Affordable lift tickets, rentals and lessons make it a wonderful and well-priced family outing right near our Trinity Village community. If skiing isn't your thing, you can also try the inner-tubing for even more winter fun!

Similar to the offering at Chinguacousy Park, Earl Bales Park gives your kids the chance to give the slopes a try in central Toronto. The park is within easy driving distance of our two Richmond Hill communities, Observatory Hill and Richmond Green. It also offers affordable rentals, lift passes and lessons for the whole family!

Located: 4169 Bathurst St

Located on the beautiful Oak Ridges Moraine, Lakeridge Resort offers 23 trails ranging from beginner to advanced. This 70-acre ski area includes moguls, 2 terrain parks, 2 snowcross courses, a banked slalom course/run and a 6-lane tube park. It is also located just a short drive from The Cosnervatory Group's acclaimed Heritage Collection of prestige homes in Stouffville.

Just a short drive from Stouffville, Dagmar Ski Resort boasts 18 ski and snowboard runs and Durham Region's largest terrain park, which includes over 60 different features for the daredevil in your family.
